Today (Saturday) at 10 AM be sure to participate in a concert/fundraiser for The Care Mission. A group of volunteers (working on their own) will be selling hotdogs and, apparently, breakfast as local songwriters and musicians perform for your pleasure. This will be held at Joe Stock Park, next to the remodeled aluminum-siding-roof Police Station in LaFayette.

If you aren’t sure what a The Care Mission is or why it needs your support, read the “Charitable Questions” post from back in May. This is an event for raising funds to keep the lights on; donations of clothing, food, or household items should be taken directly to The Care Mission.

Also, we’re proud to announce the available of Linwood University shirts and coffee mugs on the LU CafePress store. This week only, all profits from CafePress items will go to support The Care Mission. (Our markup is only $1 an item, CafePress keeps the rest.)

  1. Making money off criminal acts and other peoples tragedy????? What about homewoners who didn’t have insurance and lost money on these arsons? This is a new low even for you Sherman. Your spin on things and inciting weak minded followers to see things the way you want them to is almost comical and as so I don’t really think bad of you for it, but these t-shirts??? What if someone gets hurt or killed in a fire and people are wearing these t shirts around. How do you think they would feel. You are bringing attention to the crimes and to the criminal. This is dangerous also as it could make whoever it is see that what he did brought attention to them self. It could get worse. If you want things changed in this town, the way to do it aint to hide behind a computer screen and spin words so that you inflate your self image as some sort of leader of followers to right all the wrongs in this city. Bottom line is the t shirts are not funny and I sincerely hope no one has to ever see this shirt if someone in their family gets hurt in a fire (accidental or not).

  2. informed lighten up and lay off. it is a jab at the city’s inability and unwillingness to do anything about it, not celebrating the fires. get over yourself and your righteous indignation.

  3. I bet you wouldn’t say that if one of your family members died in a fire. It’s in bad taste no matter how you spin it.
